WOOSTER, Ohio - Entering day two of the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic, the Beavers came out to face Capital University and the host team, the College of Wooster. Bluffton jumped all over Capital, taking the first set 25-18. Entering the third set the Beavers picked up their play, hitting .300 as a team for an easy 25-17 victory. Being up two sets to one, Bluffton entered a back-and-forth battle in set four and couldn’t quite pull it out, falling 25-21. Having the match come down to a deciding fifth set, the Beavers came out to prove a point and took the clincher 15-11 after a 4-0 lead to open the set. 

Leading the Beavers offensively against Capital was senior Jenny Brown (St. Marys/Memorial) with 18 kills and not a single error, hitting a blistering .545 for the match. Brown had help at the net as Kendra Parmenter (Grove City) and MacKenzie McFarlin (Ashland) finished off the match with 17 and 14 kills, respectively.

Erin Weisgarber (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) dished out 48 assists and tallied 19 digs. Libero Sydney Mohler (Lima/Central Catholic) added 22 digs to the stat sheet. From the service line, freshman Abby Rohrbach (New Knoxville) was unstoppable, firing three aces against the Crusaders.

After the long five-set match with Capital, Bluffton had a 9-1 Wooster team waiting in the wings. Following a 30-minute break the Beavers were back out to face the host Fighting Scots. In set one the Beavers could not get in a rhythm again and found themselves in another back-and-fourth set until the
Beavers broke away at 18-18, winning the set 25-19. Finally with the long weekend winding down Bluffton found its groove in set two, going on an 11-0 jag to start the set with Rohrbach again dealing from the service line. Seven straight serves from Mohler had Wooster reeling as the Beavers opened an insurmountable 18-1 lead en route to the 25-10 spread. Entering set three the Beavers continued to play well, hitting .333 as a team while dialing up a 25-12 victory.

Setting the pace for the Beavers was freshman Erin Weisgarber with 34 assists. All-Tournament honoree Jenny Brown paced the offense with 14 kills while hitting .522 on the match. Kendra Parmenter and MacKenzie McFarlin also got it done for the Beavers with 12 and nine kills, respectively. Abby Rohrbach did her damage from from the service line, finishing the match with three service aces and seven digs. Sydney Mohler finished the match with 13 digs and an ace.

The Beavers will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 24, taking on Denison at 7 p.m. in the Sommer Center.
