BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team stayed with Anderson throughout most of the first half on a warm and sunny Wednesday, Oct. 7. The Ravens cracked the scoreboard late in the first half and again early in period two en route to the 2-0 shutout at the Sears Complex. The loss dropped the Beavers to 0-10 overall and 0-2 HCAC, while the Ravens improved to 2-7-2 and 1-1 HCAC.
The early stages of the contest were a constant battle between the two opponents. Anderson was able to slip a goal past the Beavers in the 37th minute of the first half. The Beavers didn't back down as the home team fought to get the ball to the back of the net. It took less than five minutes into the second period for Anderson to make it 2-0 when Cory Baker converted from in close.
The Ravens outshot the Beavers, 30-11, including 13-4 on frame and 18-2 in the second half. The home team was led by Michael Ralph (Mansfield/Christian) with three shots. Bluffton's keeper Matt Hardman-Zimmerman (Forest City, PA/Home) racked up a total of 11 saves while Anderson's Ben Lapham finished with four saves.
The Beavers return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 10 at Earlham (3:30 PM). You can follow Bluffton via live stats at http://earlham.edu/scoreboard2/xlive.htm as the men travel to Richmond, Ind., looking for their first victory!
