Men's Soccer drops 5-0 decision at Transylvania

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bluffton University men’s soccer squad faced Transylvania University in their next to last regular season road game this year. Despite a solid first half start that saw a scoreless tie through 45 minutes, the Beavers allowed five second half goals on the way to their 13th loss of the season. Bluffton stands at 0-13-2 overall and 0-5-2 in the Heartland Conference, while the Pioneers improved to 7-3-6 and 4-1-2 in the HCAC.
After 53 minutes of scoreless action, Transylvania broke the silence and went up 1-0. A goal in the 59th minute gave the home team a 2-0 advantage. Three more tallies, including one as the final horn sounded, rounded out the rest of the goals by Transylvania in the 5-0 victory.
The Beavers managed just three shots, with only one being on goal, while the Pioneers fired 25 shots, including 12 shots on frame. Bluffton played a physical game, with three players collecting yellow cards on the day.
MATT HARDMAN-ZIMMERMAN (Forest City, Penn.) was in goal for Bluffton and had four saves in the loss. Senior CHRIS WAGLER (Leipsic/Pandora-Gilboa) picked up two saves in his time at keeper
Bluffton will try for its first win when the men face Mount St. Joseph in the final road game of the season on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m.
