Two exhibits set for early December
Two art exhibitions will open Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Bluffton University. Both are free and open to the pubic.
Hannah Barber, a Bluffton senior from Bowling Green, Ohio, will present her senior show, “Aimless Wandering,” through Dec. 14 in the Marbeck Center Gallery. Her art is a mix of digital, drawing, painting, photography and 3-D work. The exhibit may be seen during building hours, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily; a reception will be held in the gallery from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6.
Meanwhile, southwest Ohio artists Stefan Chinov and Jeffrey Cortland Jones will present “Focus” through Dec. 18 in the Grace Albrecht Gallery in Sauder Visual Arts Center. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays; a reception is set for 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13.
Chinov and Jones are both associate professors of art, at Wright State University and the University of Dayton, respectively. Their artists’ statement notes that Jones’ enamel-on-acrylic paintings and Chinov’s cast bronze and plaster sculptures “present a dialogue between works of different origins but with similar creative goals.
“Both the paintings and the sculptures are done on a relatively small scale and contemplate a condensed and stripped down aesthetic with an emphasis on clarity of form, structure, color and surfaces.”
