Who is that masked Beaver? Big reveal Jan. 16
It’s that time of year again. On Jan. 16, during halftime of the men’s basketball game against Hanover College, Bluffton University will reveal which students are in the J. Denny and Jenny Beaver suits. The game will take place at 3 p.m. in the Sommer Center.
Throughout the year, the two mascots can be found at admissions, advancement and community events. They also routinely cheer on athletes at sporting events. Multiple university students portray the beaver couple, and the chosen few in the suit must pass a competetive selection process that includes a written application, an in-person interview and an audition in the suit.
J. Denny came on the scene in August of 2010 to honor Dr. J. Denny Weaver, professor emeritus of religion and longtime faculty athletics representative at Bluffton. Jenny was introduced in the fall of 2014, to help J. Denny spread campus spirit.
The reveal will kick off the application process for the next round of Beavers to be selected for the 2016-17 academic year.
