The apprentices of Plumbers, Pipefitters & Service Technicians Local Union 776 along with a number of volunteers in the community are helping to update a Lima area home for the family of a child with cancer.

10-year-old Brandon Schindler was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndromes or MDS in March 2014. Brandon has undergone a bone marrow transplant and is now receiving treatments to stop his body from rejecting the new cells. Before he can return home from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital later this year, his Shawnee Township home must be germ free.

Local 776 apprentices have already replaced some of the home’s plumbing and HVAC systems and on Jan. 13,  they will be replacing additional duct work.
