Republic recycling and trash collection days change week of June 6
Bluffton recycling and trash customers were notified via post card last week about changes in Bluffton collection days by Republic Services, the village contractor.
The card, however explained pick up days referring to “north” of Main Street and “south” of Main Street.
Translation: “North” of Main means “west” of Main. “South” of Main means “east” of Main.
With that translation, beginning the week of June 6:
• Collection day for all residents east of Main is Monday.
• Collection day for all residents west of Main is Wednesday.
According to Republic, here is the list of acceptable recycling items:
• Plastic bottles and jugs (# 1 and #2 only), including milk jugs, beverage bottles, shampoo bottles, laundry jugs and household cleaning bottles. Only plastic bottles and jugs.
• Glass bottles and jars include clear, green and brown glass, food or beverage.
• Aluminum cans include food and beverage containers and pet food cans.
Republic asks customers to remove all lids and rinse thoroughly. All cardboard and paperboard (cereal, cracker, cake and rice boxes) boxes must be flattened and cut down into pieces smaller than 2 feet by 2 feet.
