University's Terrill Webb wins academic honors
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on July 28, its academic awards for the 2015-16 NCAA DIII Track & Field season - including All-Academic and Scholar of the Year awards.
Junior All-American Terrill Webb (Kenton) is the first Bluffton University track and field athlete to earn this prestigious honor.
It comes on the heels of her being named the Heartland Conference Women's Athlete of the Year following All-American performances in indoor track and field and outdoor track and field during the 2015-16 school year.
Webb earned NCAA Division III indoor and outdoor track and field All-American accolades in the pole vault during her junior campaign. She finished sixth at the NCAA Division III indoor championships with a school and personal record of 12' 5.5" before securing a third place finish at the NCAA Division III outdoor championships with a mark of 12' 9.5".
With her efforts, she became the first women's track and field All-American in Bluffton history. When Webb won the Indoor HCAC championship in February it marked her fifth straight conference pole vault title.
Including the Scholar Athletes of the Year, a total of 423 women from 129 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2015-16 track & field season.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, the student athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.3 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
* *Competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship
* *Finished the regular season ranked in the national top 35 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 25 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org
