Girls' soccer: Tied at half, but Black Knights score twice in second half for win
The Bluffton Junior Varsity girls' soccer team hosted the Van Buren Black Knights Thursday evening at Steinmetz Field.
The Pirates took the lead early on, the first goal scored by freshman Brinkley Garmatter, but Van Buren responded moments later with one of their own and continually fired on the Lady Pirates ending in a score of 6-1.
The varsity also hosted Van Buren in their Parents Night game on Thursday. Senior Captain Goalkeeper Jadyn Barhorst fended off multiple shots by the Black Knights, holding the score to 0-0 at the half.
Van Buren secured their first goal 10 minutes into the half, with one more 4 minutes later; final score 0-2. The Lady Pirates will meet Upper Sandusky on Tuesday for their next match.
