September 21, 2016
WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Otterbein found the home turf to its liking as the Cardinals improved to 4-1-1 with a 4-0 victory over the Bluffton University women's soccer team. The Beavers fell to 0-4 following the road setback under the lights on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
Otterbein opened a 3-0 lead when Megan Losey found the back of the net less than a minute away from the half-time break. Alvi Shivley capped the scoring in minute 50 as the Cardinals parlayed a 26-4 advantage in shots into a 4-0 shutout.
The home team finished with a 10-0 edge in corner kicks, but the Cardinals were whistled for one more foul (6-5). Freshman keeper Courtney Davis (Richmond, MI/Richmond) came up with a season-high 11 saves.
Bluffton returns to the pitch a week from tonight (Wednesday, Sept. 28) when the Beavers welcome Heidelberg to the Sears Complex. The match is slated for a 4 p.m. start. Come out and cheer on your Beavers!
