Joan Lou (Clymer) Bauman was C-R teacher for 30 years
Joan Lou (Clymer) Bauman, 84, formerly of Bluffton and Rawson, OH, died at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, in her home in Indianapolis. She was born October 8, 1932 to the late Dale and Grace (Dietz) Clymer.
She is survived by three children: Michael K. (Amelia) Bauman of Zachary, LA; Maureen (Mark T.) K. Noe of Indianapolis, IN, and Calvin R. Bauman of Oakland, CA; a brother, Dr. David D. Clymer of Lexington, OH; four grandchildren, Dawn E. Pinkston of Ponchatoula, LA; James D. Bauman of Zachary, LA; Ashley E. Noe of Ypsilanti, MI, and Christopher T. Noe of Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer M. Bauman, who died at the age of six.
Joan earned a bachelor’s degree from Bluffton University and a master’s degree from the University of Dayton. She taught school in Cleveland prior to moving to Nigeria, Africa, from 1960-1963 to serve as a missionary. She also lived in Brussels, Belgium from 1970-1973. After returning from Europe, she was an elementary school teacher for 30 years at Cory-Rawson Elementary. After retiring from teaching, Joan opened up a bed and breakfast in her home on Main Street, Bluffton.
