Weisgarber named HCAC Player of Week
October 24, 2016
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University sophomore ERIN WEISGARBER (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) propelled the Beavers to a perfect 3-0 mark on the week with conference sweeps of Manchester and RHIT along with OAC foe Wilmington on her way to being named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week on offense.
It marks the fourth straight week, and fifth time this year, that a Beaver has been named the HCAC Player of the Week, coming on the heels of Heartland Player of the Week honors for Sydney Mohler (Lima/Central Catholic), MacKenzie McFarlin (Ashland) and Lauren Weisgarber (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley).
Weisgarber torched Bluffton's opponents at the net in a multitude of ways as the Beavers nailed down a top 2 seed in the upcoming HCAC tournament. The sophomore sensation hammered home 22 kills (2.44 KPS) against just two errors for a .571 hitting percentage. She doled out 92 assists (10.22 APS) and chipped in with 10 digs (2.11 DPS) and six blocks.
The senior setter set a career high with 11 kills in the Friday night sweep of Wilmington and she followed that up with nine kills and no errors for a .600 hitting percentage against RHIT. She dished out 33 assists and picked up 10 digs, leaving her one kill shy of a triple double as Bluffton improved to 7-0 in the HCAC.
Bluffton will host Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. before welcoming Hanover at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Click on the Live Stats link to follow all of the action this week!
