Women's Soccer falls to Transy on Senior Day
October 29, 2016
BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's soccer team honored Beth Snyder (Akron, NY) and Abby Karikas (Curtice/Genoa Area) as part of the Senior Day festivities on an unseasonably warm Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016. The Beavers finished off the season with an 0-14 mark (0-9 HCAC), while Transylvania improved to 4-11-2 overall and 4-5 in the Heartland Conference).
The Bluffton women persevered despite countless injuries throughout the entire season, but their heart was on full display on an afternoon when Karikas and Snyder suited up for the final time at the Sears Complex. With players in unfamiliar positions due to circumstances which ravaged Bluffton's lineup, Transylvania secured the 11-0 shutout thanks to a 31-4 advantage in shots.
Skylar Liming (St. Marys/Memorial) fired two shots to lead the Beavers. Freshman keeper Courtney Davis (Richmond, MI/Richmond) fended off 20 shots for the home team. The Pioneers forced all 10 corner kicks in the match, but Bluffton was whistled for four more fouls (9-5) in the final match of Bluffton's season.
