"Left in the Wicker Basket," or "right under the ol' boarding school steps"
The sweet orphaned Truehart sisters, who don’t realize they’re identical twins until the nearly blind Lyla Sol points it out, were left in a wicker basket on the boarding school steps 17 years ago.
The letter left with them revealed they are the heirs to a fortune in — Wait! That part of the letter is missing!
Curious?
That's part of the plot of this weekend's Bluffton High School fall play "Left in the Wicker Basket." "Or... Right under the Ol’ Boarding School Steps," by Paul Collette and Robert Wright.
Performances are Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11-12, in the middle school cafetorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The curtain opens at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are available at the door. Adults $3. students $1.
Here's the rest of the plot (without spoiling it for viewers):
Now, the greedy headmistress Rhonda Reevil, her dastardly daughters, Nasturtium and Geranium, the arch villain Sylvester Snodgrass, and his assistant Sylvia are all in in search of the missing piece of the letter.
But speaking of letters, Sylvester Snodgrass’s mother is so mad that he hasn’t written to her, she decides to pay him a visit.
She shows up as he’s busy tying all the good guys to railroad tracks as part of his dastardly scheme to take over the boarding school. He even has tied up a hero and heroine caught in the wrong melodrama.
Luckily, Rodney Stoutheart of the Pony Express is there to save the day. With multiple villains, heroes and heroines you’ll love this crazy comedy.
