Mary Ann Kooker taught private piano lessons in Bluffton
Mary Ann Kooker, 86, died Nov. 27, 2016, at 2:52 p.m. at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Mary Ann was born June 1, 1930, in Mishawaka, Ind., to the late Harvey and Alma (Hostetler) Nunnemaker. On June 30, 1951, she married Clarence Kooker who preceded her in death on May 11, 2016.
Mary Ann graduated from Tiskelwa High School (Illinois) and Bluffton College. She was a music teacher at various public schools and taught private lessons. Mary Ann was a concert pianist and once played at Carnegie Hall. She was a member of First Mennonite Church, Bluffton, and the Bluffton Garden Club.
Survivors include two sons, Ron Kooker of Anacortes, Washington, Martin Wayne Kooker of Baltimore, Maryland; a daughter, Flora (Carl) Humphreys of Kenton; three grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanne Marie Kooker; and a sister, Evelyn Krehbiel.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton. Pastors George O'Reilly and Wanda Stopher officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton following the service. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Mennonite Church.
