BHS juniors and seniors hear about Grob apprenticeship program
Bluffton High School juniors and seniors interested in an apprenticeship program at Grob Systems of Bluffton have the opportunity to learn about it on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
Mike Hawk of Grob will visit BHS and explain the program.
According to Grob's website, its apprenticeship program allows students to learn in a hands-on environment.
Each student rotates through the various manufacturing and assembly areas of GROB’s production facility while also attending Rhodes State College.
This hands-on approach enables students to learn and understand Grob's work practices. The apprentices will receive a free associates degree while earning a full time wage.
Grob apprentices are registered with Rhodes State College in a Manufacturing Engineering Technology Program and Electrical Engineering Technology Program.
These programs prepare students for technical level jobs in the world of robots, computerized numerical controlled machines, computer aided drafting and design, automated warehousing systems and the total flexible manufacturing network.
It also includes the general education requirements in English, technical writing, psychology and other general electives.
Grob Systems’ apprenticeship program began in 1990. Since then, over 224 persons have participated in its mechanical and electrical apprenticeship program.
Grob Systems started its operations in Bluffton, in 1991. The Grob Group has manufacturing facilities in Germany, Brazil, United States and China. In addition of these sites, Grob has sales and service facilities globally. The Grob Group in whole employs approximately 4,200 employees worldwide.
