Theatre for Living topic of Feb. 10 colloquium
Dr. Melissa Friesen, professor of theatre and communication and Mary Nord Ignat and Joseph Ignat Chair in Theatre, will present the colloquium "Theatre for Living” on Friday, Feb. 10.
Dr. Friesen will share insights and techniques from the Theatre for Living training workshop she completed last August with David Diamond in Vancouver, British Columbia.
This interactive, community-based theatre making process frames an entire community as a living organism to be engaged in creative problem-solving together. The Theatre for Living approach complicates the oppressor-oppressed binary central to Theatre of the Oppressed models for socially-engaged theatre.
Her presentation is free and open to the public beginning at 4 p.m. in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.
