Bluffton alumna to speak on STEM careers
Dr. Christina Sherry ’04, medical science liaison at Abbott Nutrition, Columbus, Ohio, will present, “The Art of Practicing Science: How a Liberal Arts Education Improves a STEM Career,” on Tuesday, March 21, at 11 a.m. in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall. This event is free and open to the public.
She will explain how communication and creativity are vital for success in the science field. Sherry is a medical science professional and expert in adult therapeutic nutrition.
She provides scientific support in areas including critical care nutrition, surgical nutrition and hospital quality-improvement initiatives and has experience conducting clinical and scientific research.
Sherry joined Abbott Nutrition in 2010 and has published 11 peer-reviewed articles. Her early work has helped develop nutritional supplements for expectant moms and advancements in Similac infant formulas. She has two patents and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences.
Prior to joining Abbott, Sherry was a NIH post-doctoral fellow at the University of Michigan. She received her undergraduate degree in dietetics from Bluffton University and her Ph.D. in Nutrition Science from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She will also be completing her MBA from Ohio University this fall.
