Two Bluffton University music major senior recitals in April
Two Bluffton University music education majors have senior recitals in April.
Aaron Johnson
Music education and history double major Aaron Johnson, of Goshen, Ind., will present his senior recital at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, in Yoder Recital Hall. The recital is free and open to the public; a reception will follow in the lobby.
Johnson’s program features pieces for trumpet and flugelhorn. These will be: “Sonata” for trumpet and piano by Kent Kennan, “Solo” for flugelhorn by Bruce Broughton, “Berceuse” by Benjamin Godard, “Toot Suite” by Claude Bolling, and “Let the Bright Seraphim” by George Frideric Handel.
Following graduation, Johnson hopes to join the education field as a band conductor. The recital is presented in partial fulfillment of his requirements for graduation with a major in music education.
Mary Bender
Music education major Mary Bender, of Harrisonburg, Va., will present her recital at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 9, in Yoder Recital Hall. The recital is free and open to the public; a reception will follow in the lobby.
Bender’s program features 13 pieces in a variety of languages including: Latin, Italian, German, French and English. A soprano, Bender’s selections come from composers J.S. Bach, Richard Strauss, Ernest Chausson, Aaron Copeland and more.
Following graduation, Bender hopes to work with elementary-age children. The recital is presented in partial fulfillment of her requirements for graduation with a major in music education.
