Village accepting applications for village administrator
Wanted: Administrator for the Village of Bluffton.
The village, operating without an administrator since late January, is now advertising for the opening. The ad is listed on the Icon classified ad page.
On Jan. 23, by a 4-2 vote, Bluffton council voted to terminate Jamie Mehaffie, who served for 13 years in the post.
The recommendation to terminate Mehaffie was made at that meeting by Judy Augsburger, mayor. Voting for termination were Roger Warren, Richard Johnson, Ralph Miller and Sean Burrell. Voting against termination were Phil Talavinia and Joe Sehlhorst.
During several council meetings the mayor was asked, and declined to provide a reason for Mehaffie’s dismissal. The mayor is currently filling the administrator’s duties
In seeking a new administrator, the advertisement states that the position is full-time. Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in public administration or a related field. Candidates not having that degree should posses an equivalent or experience.
In addition, a minimum of five years of experience in increasing responsibility of managerial and administrative experience, preferably in a municipal government setting, is required.
The first review of candidates will take place on Tuesday, April 25. Resumes will be accepted until the position is filled.
