Bentley Road access to I-75 will close for four months
The bridge over Bentley Road at I-75 will close for four months for deck replacement starting Monday, June 5.
The project starting date was originally scheduled for last week, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation, District 1.
Photos at the bottom of this story demonstrate the work needed on the bridge deck.
The closure also affects the Bentley Road southbound entrance and exit ramps only. The northbound entrance and exit ramps remain open, but traffic will not be permitted to turn west onto Bentley to enter Bluffton.
Options to get on the Interstate in Bluffton is to use exits at State Route 103, near McDonald’s Restaurant.
Interstate 75 both northbound and southbound will be periodically reduced to one lane at times beneath the Bentley Road bridge structures during certain operations related to construction.
Lane closures will occur sporadically and are expected to occur mostly during daytime hours, but some nighttime closures may occur.
Napoleon Road
The Napoleon Road bridge in Beaverdam, over I-75 closed May 22 for approximately four months.
Traffic detoured onto Sugar Creek Road, Swaney Road and Lincoln Highway (State Route 696) back to Napoleon Road.
The northbound exit ramp from Interstate 75 to Napoleon Road closed May 30 for four months.
The ramp was initially to remain open. The closure became necessary due to bridge height limitations and weight capacities on local roads.
Traffic detoured north on Interstate 75, east on Lincoln Highway (State Route 696), south on Swaney Road and west on Sugar Creek Road back to Napoleon Road; or west onto Lincoln Highway (state Route 696) back to S. West Street in Beaverdam.
The entrance ramp to Interstate 75 southbound will remain open.
Motorists traveling northbound on Interstate 75 wishing to access state Route 696 are advised to do so via exit 135 (state Route 696/U.S. 30) at Beaverdam. No access to state Route 696 from Interstate 75 northbound at the Napoleon Road exit will be available.
