Village fiscal officer resigns
Bluffton village fiscal officer, Nancy Kindle, has resigned from the village, effective Aug. 14. Mayor Judy Augsburger made the announcement during Monday’s Bluffton council.
Augsburger said that she received Kindle’s letter of resignation “as of this morning.” Council members and the mayor expressed surprise at her immediate resignation. One council member asked if the council could refuse to accept it.
Kindle’s duties of taking council minutes were handled by Jesse Blackburn on Monday.
Following the open session of the meeting, council entered executive session to discuss personnel and hiring.
Kindle served as village fiscal officer since Oct. 30, 2006. Mayors during her time as fiscal officer included Fred Rodabaugh, Eric Fulcomer, Dennis Gallant and Judy Augsburger.
In her resignation letter she said that when she began working for the village she was impressed by the administration’s commitment to ethics, high moral standards and the shared responsibility to act and govern in the best interests of the Bluffton residents.
Her letter continued that in spite of her repeated objections and warnings, the current administration has permitted the advancement of decisions that concerns her. She mentioned a hostile work environment that has been created. Her letter stated that the environment is intolerable and that she cannot in good conscience be complicit with those practices.
