Sept. 17 reception to be held for featured photographer
A reception with artist Stephen Takacs will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17. Tackacs is a multidisciplinary artist from Columbus, Ohio. His exhibit titled
“Brownie in Motion” opened on Aug. 28 and will continue through Sept. 22. The exhibit is on display in the Grace Albrecht Gallery of Bluffton University’s Sauder Visual Arts Center.
“Brownie In Motion” is a traveling art installation, photographic darkroom and functioning camera obscura modeled after an iconic Kodak Brownie all in one. Takacs photographs individuals that practice disappearing trades and crafts using the custom-built, room-sized camera. These black and white images will be on display alongside the giant camera and a series of color images of the “Brownie in Motion” camera installed at various locations.
The public is invited free of charge. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekly and 1-5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
