Volleyball drops matches to TMC and Heidelberg

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Bluffton University volleyball team suffered two blemishes Saturday on day two of the No One Fights Alone Invitational at Heidelberg University. The Beavers lost their first match to Thomas More in four sets (28-26, 18-25, 25-22, 25-20) before being swept by Heidelberg (27-25, 25-21, 25-10).
Sydney Mohler (Lima/Central Catholic) posted a high of 28 digs in the four-set loss to Thomas More. Junior Bethany Martini (Pickerington/North) added 16 kills and 11 digs, making it a double-double. Junior setter Erin Weisgarber (Bolivar/Tuscarawas Valley) also notched a double-double with 34 assists and 16 digs.
Bluffton struggled to win the serve and pass game against Heidelberg. The Student Princes tallied 11 aces in three sets, while Bluffton tallied just one. Bethany Martini knocked home a team-high 13 kills for Bluffton, two more than freshman Remi Bower (Deshler/Patrick Henry) who finished with 11. Weisgarber was credited with 32 assists. Mohler and Martini were all over the backcourt with 12 and 11 digs, respectively.
Erin Weisgarber was named all-tournament team at the No One Fight Alone Invitational. She recorded 86 assists, 32 digs and nine kills for the weekend.
It doesn't get any easier for Bluffton as the Beavers host #25 Ohio Northern at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, in the Sommer Center. Come out and makes some noise when we welcome the Polar Bears!
