What's Dennis Morrison dug up lately?
Dennis Morrison’s e-mail address defines his history hobby: [email protected].
He will share his adventures from over 25 years of metal detecting and probe searches during a 9:45 a.m. to noon presentation Saturday, Sept. 16, at Book ReViews, 123 S. Main St., Bluffton, according to Dr. Christina Walton, store manager.
Each spring and fall Morrison explored Civil War campsites that cover between 3,000 and 5,000 acres.
He says that with his equipment he can cover three acres in two days. In addition to his Civil War land searches he has scoured and searched more Bluffton acreage than most farmers have plowed in a lifetime.
The Ford Motor Lima engine plant retiree is a Bluffton High School graduate.
Saturday’s presentation will include sharing his adventures and a display of some of the items he has uncovered over the years.
Walton said that Civil War books will be available for sale during the morning. Coffee and donuts will be available for a donation. The program is free and open to the public.
