Senior Center launches new year with lots of programming
It’s a new year and the Bluffton Senior Center is ready with lots of programming.
Here’s what’s on January’s Center calendar. An attachment below lists all items at the Center next month.
January’s dinner meeting is at noon, Monday, Jan. 8. The program includes photos of the Grand Canyon and Red Rocks trip by the Center earlier this year.
Louise Hampton is the volunteer of the year. The centerboard has chosen Louise, who served at the center’s librarian for over five years.
Deb’s workshop is at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan 10. The subject is machine appliqué. The new sewing machines at the Center have the capability of sewing 99 different patterns.
AAP volunteers will begin assisting seniors with tax preparations. Appointments will be taken starting Jan. 3. Volunteers will begin tax assistance in early February.
January's community meal schedule follows:
• Thursday, Jan. 4, 6 p.m., provided by SHANNON Service Club
• Thursday, Jan. 18, 6 p.m., provide two St. Mary's Catholic Church
Four Our Version of Adult Learning (OVAL) classes are planned for January. Those classes follow:
Thursday, Jan. 11 – 9:30 a.m. – Bob Gordon-Hancock, “How the credit card banking industry works.”
Monday, Jan. 15 - 9:30 a.m. – Fred Steiner will discuss his upcoming book “The Bluffton We Never Knew.” The book includes over 70 photos of Bluffton taken from 1861 to 1911.
Thursday, Jan. 25 – 10 a.m. – Beth Theisen, Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District, “The healing power of nature.”
Monday, Jan. 29 – 10 a.m. – Elmcroft staff members will discuss various health topics. More information coming.
