Village looking at $1.2 million West Elm Street project
The Village of Bluffton is considering a $1.2 million West Elm Street improvement project this year. The price tag is based on a preliminary construction estimate provide by Choice One Engineering.
The project extends from Spring Street to Bentley Road.
Three options are on the discussion table:
1 – Replace water main and associated trench repairs, $433,863
(street paving brings the cost to approximately $500,000)
2 – Waterline road narrowing and resurfacing, $1,017547
(road narrowing results in removing on-street parking on the university side of West Elm)
3 – Waterline, road narrowing with full road reconstruction, $1,212,083
On Jan. 24 council’s street and alley committee met with the council utility committee to review the project.
According to Jack Huber, village administrator, a public hearing will take place prior to any final decision on the project.
