Bluffton girls' soccer team traveled to Riverdale Monday evening for a
match-up against the Lady Falcons. Both teams entered the field ready to play, however, Riverdale soon dominated the entire game.
Their first goal came just 9 minutes into the game which was quickly followed with 2 more goals in the next 2 minutes. Bluffton slowly began to crumble.
Suddenly the score was 5-0 at half time. The Lady Falcons came back out on the field with the same intensity and desire for more goals. Blufftons defense had 8 steals. The Pirates had only 3 shots on goal and just couldn't seem to find the net. The Falcons sunk the Pirate ship 10-0.
Liberty-Benton
A cold, windy and somwhat damp,S teinmetz Field was the setting for the game between The Lady Pirates and the Liberty Benton Eagles. After their loss on Monday, the Lady Pirates weren't sure how this game would turn out.
Both teams were very excited and ready to play. This excitement was demonstrated on the field as both teams played very well. 20 minutes into the game LB scored their first goal.
The Pirates defense did not get rattled and kept the Falcons offense under control for the next 12 minutes when LB scored their second goal. A handball in the box caused the Pirates tosuffer a penalty shot leaving the scoreboard light to beam 3-0 at half time.
The Pirates were not discouraged by the score and were not about tolet up on their game. Neither team dissipated as the clock ticked down.
An assisted ball from Megan Dulle to Kelly McCarthy and right into the net, lifted the Pirates spirits. Keeping the Falcons away from the ball for the next 8 minutes worked well until they snuck in their goal with 5 minutes left in the game. Both teams put much effort into the game with the Falcons outshooting the Pirates 15-3.
The final score LB 6, Bluffton 1.
