Baseball: Pirates drop high-scoring contest
By Sam Brauen www.blufftonpirates.com
There’s no quit in this Pirate baseball team. Coming into Monday’s matchup with LCC, Bluffton had dropped their prior five contests. The Thunderbirds posted 13 runs in the second inning and BHS could have folded and went through the motions but they did not. Bluffton clawed their way back over the next four innings and cut the lead to 13-11 heading into the sixth inning. LCC was able to score five final runs in the seventh to nab a wild 18-11 victory.
The visitors batted round and then some in the second inning as they scored the 13 runs. Bluffton committed six errors on the night. Brice Rayle took the loss on the mound for Bluffton. Aaron Belcher pitched 1.2 scoreless innings of relief. Dakota Bricker and Kaden Reneker closed out the game for BHS.
Bricker collected 4 hits on the night to lead Bluffton. Aaron Belcher and Brice Rayle each hit two hits including a double. The Pirates and T-Birds each had 12 hits in the game.
