A trout named "Guppy"
A trout named “Guppy” with a tag number 1 roams at large today in the Buckeye quarry.
Named after long-time Bluffton Community Sportmen’s Club member Ron “Guppy” Montgomery, tag 1 was not caught at Sunday’s 72nd annual trout derby.
The 50/50 drawing value at the close of the derby was $2,030. Since number 1 was not caught, the Sportmen’s Club claimed one-half of the drawing. The Icon is not aware of the winner of the other half at press time.
This year’s derby had an unexpected rain shower mid-way through the fishing. Below are some Icon photos of this year’s derby.
Persons catching tagged trout now through Labor Day may claim their consolation prizes at Family True Value Hardware, derby headquarters.
