Get ready for SG Lanes Summer fest'
Southgate Lanes, 9700 Dixie Highway, has big plans this summer as the second season of Summer Fest’s get underway, according to Derek Dukes.
To launch the summer season the bowling alley will reopen on Saturday, June 1. The band “Next to Nothing,” from Lima will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Here’s the schedule beginning the first week of June and continuing until bowling begins in September.
Weekly summer schedule:
• Tuesdays, youth 17 and under bowl for free, open 3 to 11 p.m.
• Wednesdays, “Not Tuesday Taco Wednesdays,” taco bar, $1, and draft beer special, open 3 to 11 p.m.
• Thursdays, Doubles Craft Bowling Leagues, 18 teams, 6:30 p.m.
• Fridays, open bowling, 11 a.m. to midnight
• Saturdays and Sundays, closed
Other special summer events
Saturday, July 21 - The first-ever 1-K (that’s correct, 1-K) Summer Fest’ race takes place at noon. Entry is $20 per person with proceeds going to Bluffton Family Recreation.
Persons may register on the BFR website www.bfronline.com. The race begins at Parkview Development and ends at the bowling alley. A police escort will lead runners. Activities following at the bowling alley include dodge ball and a live band.
Saturday, Aug. 18 – Second Summer fest. Planning is underway and the Bluffton Fire Department will benefit from this event. Watch the Icon for details as they develop.
