'Messiah' rehearsals set at Bluffton University
Rehearsals for Bluffton University's 115th performance of Handel's "Messiah" will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning Oct. 12, in the Gilliom Room of Mosiman Hall. Anyone interested in singing, from high school students to adults, is welcome to join the rehearsals, which will lead to the traditional Advent-season performance at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12.
Dr. Mark J. Suderman, professor of music, is the conductor, while Dr. Lucia Unrau, professor and chair of the Bluffton music department, is the rehearsal accompanist. Music scores will be available for singers to borrow.
"As I begin my 10th season at Bluffton University conducting the 'Messiah,' I am excited once again to revisit the depth of Scripture combined with music in this masterwork," Suderman said. "It truly is an opportunity for the community to join together in musical excellence, life enrichment and joy."
