Wanda Heffner 1934-2018
Wanda L. Heffner, 83, died June 11, 2018, at 3:45 p.m. at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. Wanda was born Aug. 3, 1934 in Delphos, Ohio, to the late Edward and Opal (Dunlap) Buettner. She had been married to James Michel from 1954 until his death in 1975 and later married Roger Heffner in 1985 and he preceded her in death in 1995.
Wanda graduated from Gomer High School. She retired from Lima State Hospital where she was a guard. Wanda was a past member of the Leatherwood Grange in Rimer for 35 years and also was a member of the Bluffton Senior Citizens.
Survivors include her significant other, Kenny Smith of Columbus Grove; two sons, Timothy Michel of Maysville, North Carolina, John (Deanna) Michel of Columbus Grove; two daughters, Joyce (Gary) Hauenstein of Bluffton, Charity Guinther of Bluffton; two step sons, Charles (Margaret) Heffner of Lima, Paul (Monette) Heffner of Smyrna, Georgia; a step daughter, Susan Hanson of Lima; 19 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and a brother, Darrell (Jill Renner) Buettner of Lima.
Wanda was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Buettner; two sisters, Lois Barth, Carol Adam and a great grandson, Clayton Pearson.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 15, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Pastor Michael Downey officiating. Burial will be in Rockport Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Beaverdam EMS or Cairo EMS.
