Florence May Nutt Elliott was in Civil Defense during World War II
Florence May Nutt Elliott, 98, formerly of Bluffton, died June 21, 2018, at her daughter's residence in Vandalia, Ohio. Florence was born April 9, 1920, in London, England, to the late Claude and Ellen Lititia (Farmborough) Tabner.
Florence was in Civil Defense during World War II and came to the United States as a war bride after marrying Dwight Nutt who preceded her in death. On June 29, 1974, she married Lester Elliott died away on Sept. 28, 2012.
Florence worked for Trisco Plastics and U.S. Plastics in Lima. She attended English Lutheran Church in Bluffton and was a member of the War Brides Club in Lima.
Survivors include six children, Patricia DeLong, Jean Bicknell, Doris Hodge, JoAnne (David) Pollock, Christopher Nutt and Michael Nutt; a step daughter Chrystal (John) Wisneski; 22 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a brother Geoffrey Tabner; and a son in law, Joe Garcia.
Florence was preceded in death by a daughter Sylvia Garcia, seven siblings; four sons in law, Earl DeLong, Gary Bicknell, Jim Hodge; and a daughter in law, Carol Nutt.
Services will be held at noon., Monday, June 25, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton. Pastor Kevin Mohr officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton. Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
