Bluffton Hospital "topping out ceremony" Oct. 6
Bluffton Hospital will hold a "topping out ceremony" for residents, community members and associates Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. in the new Bluffton Hospital concrete parking lot (corner of Kibler and Harmon Roads).
The ceremony will celebrate the completion of the first phase of construction on the Bluffton Hospital expansion project. It will also mark the placement of the last structural beam.
Community members are invited to attend. Parking will be available at the Bluffton school soccer field on Harmon Road or on Quarry Drive. A shuttle will bring attendees from the parking areas to the ceremony.
Cider and donuts will be provided.

Concerning the on-going construction project, here is this week's schedule:
- Structural steel installation and framing of the two story addition, which includes the new emergency department and other services, is approaching completion. Contractors will continue the installation of the second floor and roof decking this week.
- Framing of new walls and the installation of HVAC duct work continues in the new operating room. The installation of the exterior brick on this addition is near completion.
- The emergency exit ramp for the medical/surgical floor is complete. Work continues behind the existing hospital on the construction of masonry walls and concrete pads for the liquid oxygen tank, propane tank and standby generator.
