Pathway board announces next project
An extended pathway on Bentley Road is on its way.
The Bluffton Pathway board, charged with encircling the village with a pedestrian and bicycle path, is looking next at the section of Bentley Road from the Augsburger/Elm intersection to Riley Street, according to Richard Ramseyer, board chair.
Currently there are no sidewalks on either side of that stretch of Bentley.
“It’s our goal to eventually extend the pathway, using village right-of-way along Riley Street from Bentley, to Spring Street and onto the Buckeye park,” said Ramseyer.
Current Bentley Road project
This summer’s pathway project – not yet completed – will eventually connect Augsburger/Elm to the bridge over Riley Creek on Bentley Road, just north of Grove Street. The path will be on the west side of Bentley.
Bentley’s expansion started in early May. The next step in that portion of the pathway, according to Ramseyer, is the placement of a final layer of asphalt by Bluffton Paving Co.
Once that layer is on Bentley the village will place a six-inch white thermoplastic line on the west side of the road. It will provide an eight-foot wide designated pedestrian and bike pathway.
Ten white bicycle logos (see graphic with this story) will be painted along the pedestrian-bike portion of the extended Bentley Road. The logos are similar to the logos painted on the entrance to the Parkview pathway at Kibler Street.
A late-summer dedication and ribbon-cutting is planned for the Bentley Road project.
