Steven Sutermeister was a 1963 Bluffton HS graduate
Steven A. Sutermeister, a 1963 Bluffton High School graduate of Flushing, Michigan, 72, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2018, at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, at Rossell Funeral Home.
Pastor Jim Reid officiating. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A Masonic Memorial Service, under the auspices of Lodge #223 will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the family for his grandchildren's educational funds.
Steven was born in Kenton, Ohio, on Aug. 27, 1945, the son of Everett and Mildred (Runser) Sutermeister. Growing up, Steven earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Bowling Green State University and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Steven started his career as a chemistry teacher at Flushing High School.
He went on to work as an insurance agent at Rumsey Insurance and later Bois Insurance before his retirement. He was a member of the Flushing Masonic Lodge #223, F & AM, where he was a 33rd Degree Mason and Mason of the year in 2002 and also a member of the Elf Khurafeh Shriners. He was also a life-member of the Scottish Rite of Bay City.
He coached youth football, baseball and softball.
Steven is survived by his children, Kimberly and husband Eddy Foley, Matthew Alan and wife Christy Sutermeister, Teresa and husband Mike Miller; grandchildren, Dominic Sutermeister, CJ Gildersleeve, Alaina Sutermeister, Maxwell, Mikey, and Murphy Miller; and mother of his children, Patricia Sutermeister.
