Mercy Health Fitness Studio opened today (Aug. 16) inside Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road.
The 2,500-square-foot studio is in the upper level, the former mezzanine area, of BFR. Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director, said that’s Mercy Health’s gift of $10,000 enabled the fitness studio to be realized.
The fitness studio is an area within BFR dedicated to exercise and wellness activities. The studio will house exercise equipment and fitness classes. The studio greatly enhances the offerings at BFR, which also includes sports training and leagues for youth through adults.
During the ribbon cutting, Dale Gist, Mercy Health – St. Rita’s president, announced that Mercy Health will offer a $5,000 match, in addition to its initial gift.
“We are excited about the match,” said Tinch. “I believe we are able to come up with a $5,000 community match to enable Mercy’s gift to reach $15,000.
This is Mercy Health’s second major donation to BFR. Two years ago St. Rita’s was the lead contributor to BFR’s new indoor turf project.
Following the presentation by Mercy Health the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting. BFR staff members provided a demonstration of TRX training.
