(BLUFFTON) - Now they're rolling! The boys soccer team collected their fourth straight win Tuesday in a 5-1 triumph over Wapakoneta. BHS is now 4-1-1 on the season with the lone loss coming in a shootout to Elida.
The Pirates maintained control of this match from the onset, possessing the ball for a vast majority of the 80 minutes. Jayden Mays scored first and Isaiah Schwab added a late second half goal to stake Bluffton to a 2-0 lead.
In the second half, Wapak closed the gap to 2-1 but senior Jackson Steinmetz headed home a Luke Young corner kick to make it 3-1 Simon Derstine added two insurance goals for the Pirates. Jude Spallinger assisted on one of Derstine’s goals
The defensive grouping of Eli Lemley, Kris Daws, Asher Antrim, Colin Oglesbee and goalkeeper Dakoda Clymer again lived up the billing. The group, along with other defenders, have allowed just two goals during the winning streak. The Pirates in the four games have put 30 goals on the board. Bluffton outshot Wapak tonight 17-10. Clymer made two saves
The Pirates entered the match ranked fifth in the most recent OSSCA Northwest Ohio poll. BHS will face two teams ranked ahead of them later in the season in Van Buren and Ottawa Glandorf.
