Bluffton's girls soccer team traveled to Crestview on Saturday to challenge the Knights. The cold chilling breeze, and slight spit of rain didn't dampen the Pirates' spirits as they came ready to play with full force.

Jill Steinmetz scored the first goal for the Pirates not even a full five minutes into the game. Soon after, with revenge settling in the Knights' hearts, they worked together and scored a goal approximately eight minutes later.

Crestview didn't stop there, adding another goal in less than 10 minutes. Fighting right back, the Pirates scored two goals in the remaining ten minutes of the first half.

One of the goals, was assisted by Palte, sent to Leugers, and passed right to the back of the opponents net.

The other goal was taken by Steinmetz again allowing the Pirates to take the lead 3-2 by half time.

Opening up the second half, Crestview scored in less than four minutes. Bluffton, not liking the score kept the ball on the offensive side of the field taking quite a few shots.

Yoder, Bluffton, finished the idea floating around the field...a goal, making the Pirates take the game again 4-3. With only 21 minutes left in the game and the Pirates winning and not about to give up they kept up their defensive duties the time ticked away.

Within the last 10 seconds the ball was played from a goal kick by McCarthy and a Crestview player took a desperation shot with the final 3 seconds.

Heslep, Bluffton, punched the flying ball, and it landed just past the goal line tying the game 4-4.

Kalida

The Lady Pirates traveled to Kalida last Tuesday to play another game of soccer nearing the end of their season.

Both teams were fired up and ready to play. The teams battled for the ball until Kalida took a shot which broke right through the Bluffton goalie's hands scoring the first goal of the game just 20 minutes from the start.

Not giving up the Lady Pirates kept steady keeping up with the pace of the game all through the rest of the first half.

The Pirates and the Wildcats came out at half time ready to continue their battle. The Pirates did an excellent job of keeping the Wildcats caged until 13 minutes from the end of the game when a Kalida player passed the ball back to a team mate who shot it from behind the 18. The ball hit the net high to where Blufftons' goalie could not reach.

Bluffton, not finished with the game kept up their defensive play until 2 minutes left in the game. Kalida put another ball perfectly into the upper 90 for their 3rd goal of the night. The Pirates fell 3-0.
