Men's and women's soccer teams fall
The Bluffton University men's soccer team fell to Adrian College by a 3-0 count on a hot Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018. The Bulldogs evened their mark at 3-3, while Bluffton fell to 1-6 on the season.
The Beavers trailed just 1-0 at the break, but Adrian tacked on two goals in the second stanza for a 3-0 shutout at the Sears Complex.
Christian Zapata (Livonia, MI/Adlai E. Stevenson) and Igor Malaquias (Bethlehem, Penn./Northampton CC) paced the home team with two shots apiece, while Connor Kaminicki (Northfield, Ohio/Nordonia) turned away five Adrian attempts. Both teams were whistled for 13 fouls, but the Bulldogs forced four more corner kicks (7-3).
Bluffton is back at its home field on Sunday, Sept. 23, when the Beavers host Muskingum University for a 1 p.m. clash. Come out and support your Beavers!
WOMEN'S SOCCER
The Bluffton University women's soccer team dropped a 5-0 decision at Huntington University on a hot Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018. The Beavers fell to 1-5, while the Foresters upped their season mark to 3-6.
Bluffton fell behind 3-0 at the half and Huntington tacked on two late goals for the 5-0 shutout. Freshman Julia Gibson (New Carlisle, Ohio/Tecumseh) led the Beavers with two shots on goal, while sophomore keeper Sienna Sullivan (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) racked up 18 saves.
Huntington fired away with 45 of the 48 shots in the match. The home team forced all 11 corner kicks in their victory.
Bluffton is back in Indiana on Saturday, Sept. 22, when the Beavers take on St. Mary's College in Notre Dame at 3 p.m.
