(KALIDA) - The boys soccer team picked up a much needed win at Kalida Tuesday evening by a 3-0 count. As tournament time nears, the Pirates are looking to build momentum for the postseason. With a tie and a draw in their most recent matches, Bluffton had not won a match since September 27.
Luke Young got the scoring started tonight when he dropped a corner kick into the penalty box and it caromed into the net just four minutes into the match. No further goals were scored until the second 40'.
Isaiah Schwab took a long pass from Matt Daws and finished it to push the lead to 2-0 at the 55' mark. Andrew Lovett passed to Jonathan Schriner for the final goal of the evening.
Bluffton held a 10-7 advantage in shots with Pirate keeper Dakota Clymer coming up with 7 saves. Bluffton is now 9-2-4 while Kalida falls to 6-3-6.
Schriner scores in tie
(LIMA) - Two similar teams squared off Saturday in a boys soccer match between Bluffton and Shawnee. Bluffton took a first half lead when Jonathan Schriner finished a Luke Young pass to make it 1-0 with just 5' remaining in the half. The Indians tied it back up in the 58' off a Fred Miller goal.
The teams were even in shots and goal with Pirate keeper Dakota Clymer making 6 saves.
