Legion Post observes Veterans Day with several events

The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 will honor all veterans on Monday, Nov. 12, to commemorate Veterans Day.

Here’s the Legion’s schedule on Nov. 12:

  • On Nov. 9, Cheryl and Thom Craig and Larry Core will show Bluffton 4th graders how to respect and fold the American Flag.
  • On Nov. 12,  legion members will visit veterans at the Hilty Home, Maple Crest Home, Mennonite Memorial Home and Vancrest in Ada.
  • The Bluffton Scrap Artist group and legion members will pass out quilts to veterans at the Hilty Home, Maple Crest, Mennonite Home, and Vancrest in Ada.

Veterans Day is observed on Nov. 11, honoring persons who served in the United States armed forces.

It coincides with other holidays, including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I.

Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918,  when the armistice with Germany went into effect.
