Delphos St. John's

Nearing the end of the season, the Bluffton Lady Pirates soccer team hosted the Delphos St. John's Blue Jays Monday evening. Both teams starting strong, battling for a solid 10 minutes back and forth, the Blue Jays put their first of many goals in.

A second goal came a short seven minutes later by the same player for the Delphos team. The Blue Jays continued to attack. Along with the surges of many attacks, came fouls agains St. John's. The Jays had 8 fouls in the first half and another two in the second half.

Bluffton not being nealy as agressive only commited one foul in each half. With 15 minutes left in the first half, the Pirates let a third goal slip by. The young Pirate crew soon found out that they couldn't keep up with the quick pace.

Coming out in the second half, the Blue Jays shot four goals in less than the first five minutes. Perking up, the Pirates held the Jays for the remainder of the time. Being more agressive and taking more shots in the box, Steinmetz was tripped and therefore given a penalty shot 25 minutes left in the game. Socking the ball to the corner of the net, gave the Pirates momentum to work for and stop the Blue Jays from scoring again. Ending the game 7-1, the Pirates fell again.

Delphos Jefferson

Hosting the Delphos Jefferson Wildcats, the Pirates had a determined feeling in their hearts and souls. Starting the game off with a goal by McCarthy from Bluffton led the Pirates to a 1-0 score just four minutes into the game.

Confidence high, the Pirates kept up their passing and dribbling, but nothing else really happened in the first half. Lots of shots from Bluffton taken by Leugers, McCarthy, Palte, Steinmetz, and Yoder, totaling 12 shots.

Only one of the shots taken went in for the Pirates by half time. As for the Wildcats, they had three shots the whole game, one in the first half and the remainding two in the second. The Pirates had another two goals by Yoder, just six minutes into the second half. Bluffton letting down just a bit, the Wildcats scored two minutes to go.

Getting revenge, Bonnell, Bluffton, kicked the ball into the net with a stunning 1.8 seconds left in the match. The feeling in their souls in the begining did the Pirates good as they left Steinmetz feild that night with a win, 4-1.
