School will act to proceed with 2 levies on May 2019 ballot
Bluffton school board will take the next step on Monday to place two renewal levies on the May 7, 2019, Ohio primary election ballot. In November the board went on record to pursue the renewals. Monday’s action will state the board’s intent to proceed with placing the levies on the ballot.
The first renewal is for the permanent improvement one-half percent income tax first passed in May of 2007. It is renewed in three-year. It will expire Dec. 31, 2019, and generates $700,000 per year for the school district.
The second renewal levy is an emergency levy, which is a fixed amount levy, first passed in November of 1999 at 4.9 mills. It has a five-year renewal and generates $714,392 per year for general operating expenses. It also expires Dec. 31, 2019.
The wording on the levies is in the board’s agenda, attached at the bottom of this story.
Several other items are on the agenda. These include an open enrollment policy for 2019-20, approval of a June 30-11, 2019, Ocean Focus biology field trip to the Florida Keys, and some contract action.
