During a noon break between seeing patients, the Icon caught up with Dr. Molly Senokozlieff, M.D., women’s health specialist. Her office is across from Bluffton Hospital in Blanchard Valley Obstetrics and Gynecology (formerly called Bluffton Woman’s Care).

When in Bluffton she may see 20 patients or more during the day, and her patient load had reached a dozen when we arrived. We talked quickly because one of her patients in Bluffton was in labor.

She pointed out that an early experience in her first year of residency at Ohio State University Hospital was being in the room during her sister’s delivery of triplets.

Dr. Molly joined the practice in April with Dr. Robert Schutz, M.D., Sarah Howe, certified nurse practitioner (CNP) and Melissa Moore, certified nurse midwife (CNM). She says that she spend two-thirds of her time in Bluffton and one-third time in Findlay.

“I’m in Bluffton Wednesdays and Thursdays and every-other weekend I’m on call,” she said. Adding that half of her patients see her for gynecology issues and half for obstetrics. Her patients span ages from adolescence to geriatrics, although “most are between 20 and 60.”

Commenting on Bluffton Hospital, she says “Bluffton Hospital is very personal. That’s what patients love about it and I enjoy being there.”

As a women’s health specialist, she is not a general practitioner. “I see patients for specific issues. I’ve taken additional training as a surgeon and am especially interested in minimally invasive surgery.”

Growing up as the daughter of a nurse practitioner near Mansfield in the backyard of Mohican State Park, Dr. Molly originally thought about pursuing a degree in science or education.

“I feel that I’m in an education position as a women’s health specialist and I enjoy surgery,” she said, adding that she is happy working within that medical mix.

After office hours she and her husband spend time with their three children, a 11-year-old son, and two daughters ages 9 and 5.
