Here are recent results from Bluffton University baseball and softball teams in Florida this week.
Baseball
FORT MYERS, Fla. - After kicking off the season with two wins, the Beavers dropped a pair on Monday, March 4, to Moravian (11-8) and Ohio-rival Otterbein University (8-3). Bluffton fell to 2-2 on the year with seven games left in the Sunshine State.
University junior Parker Reynolds (Avon) earnd the first Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week award for the 2019 baseball season. It marks his first Hitter of the Week award as a Beaver.
Reynolds hit a homer and drove in four runs in Bluffton's 10-3 win over Rivier on Sunday.. The junior backstop slugged 1.125 with seven RBI and two runs in the first two games
The team struggled to put up runs in a doubleheader sweep (8-0 and 9-2) at the hands of Saint John's (Minn.) on Tuesday, March 5. Bluffton slipped to 2-4 on the season, while the Johnnies stayed perfect at 4-0.
Softball
PLANT CITY, Fla. – Bluffton University’s softball team got steamrolled in the first game of the day as Hood needed just five innings to carve out a 10-1 victory. However, the Beavers bounced back in game two, notching their first win of the 2019 season against Heidelberg with a 5-3 victory. Bluffton is now 1-3 heading into their day off.
