Eileen Kehler was a foster parent to 29 children
Eileen June Kehler, 86, died July 31, 2019, at Willow Ridge - Betty House in Bluffton. Eileen was born June 12, 1933, in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, to the late Menno and Katie (Rosenberger) Myers. On April 7, 1956, she married Cornelius "Neil" Kehler who survives.
Eileen graduated from Quakertown High School in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, and received her bachelor's degree in business administration from Bluffton College. She worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for First Mennonite Church in Bluffton for many years where she was an active member.
Eileen later worked as office manager for 21 years for the Central District Conference and had also been the office administrator for her husband, Neil's business, E & N Coin Laundry in Findlay.
She and her husband were foster parents of 29 foster children.
Survivors also include a daughter, Cheryl (Carl) Myers of Avilla, Indiana; two sons, Jeff (Eileen) Kehler of Dunkirk, Ohio, Eric (Diane) Kehler of Worthington, Ohio; 10 grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ella Bohrer of Sellersville, Indiana.
Eileen was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonita Kehler; a grandchild; and two brothers, Willard Myers and Leonard Myers.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, at First Mennonite Church, Bluffton. Pastors Joshua Hilty and Wanda Stopher officiating. Private burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to and following the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bonnie Kehler Memorial Scholarship Fund at Bluffton University or to the Mennonite Central Committee.
