Bluffton senior to perform vocal recital
Laurel Baker, a vocalist from Pemberville, Ohio, will present her Bluffton University senior recital at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, in Yoder Recital Hall on the Bluffton campus. The recital is free and open to the public; a reception will follow in the lobby.
Baker, a soprano and a student of Dr. Crystal Sellers, assistant professor of music at Bluffton, will perform music by Handel, Schumann and Reynaldo Hahn. In addition, she will present three musical theatre numbers-"Goodnight, My Someone" from "The Music Man," Cole Porter's "Night and Day" from "Anything Goes" and Dr. Jeffrey Boehm's arrangement of George Gershwin's "Someone to Watch Over Me," from "Oh Kay!"
Boehm is a Bluffton professor of music and director of the university's Brass Society, which will accompany Baker on "Someone to Watch Over Me" and on Handel's "Let the Bright Seraphim." Also providing accompaniment during the recital will be pianist Allison Ringold.
The recital is presented in partial fulfillment of requirements for graduation from Bluffton with a major in music education.
