Beaver volleyball squad slugs it out with Denison
The Bluffton University volleyball team slugged it out with Denison in a four-set thriller on Sept. 24.. Three sets were decided by two points apiece as the Big Red moved to 9-5 following their hard-fought victory (29-27, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23).
Junior Remi Bower (Deshler/Patrick Henry) hammered away with a career-high 23 kills against just six errors for a red-hot .298 hitting percentage. Sarah Heydinger (Tiro/Buckeye Valley) was just one kill away from her career best with 13 putaways. Sophomore Cassidy Posey (Paulding) was in on four blocks.
Doling out a career-high 38 assists was freshman Noel Ufferman (Marysville/Fairbanks) who also got it done defensively with a career-high 17 digs. Sophomore Brooke Kleman (Glandorf/Ottawa-Glandorf) picked up a team-high 20 digs, while Chelsey Taylor (Hicksville) chipped in with 11 of her own. Freshman Courtney Weekley (Butler/Clear Fork) fired three aces for the Beavers.
Bluffton will travel to Heidelberg University for the No One Fights Alone Invitational on Friday, Sept. 27. The Beavers take on Mount St. Joseph Friday before battling Heidelberg and Marietta on Saturday, Sept. 28.
